II International Seminar about Resorts

The second version of the seminar took place between the 23rd and 24th of November at the Gran Melia Hotel São Paulo and was realized with the BSH International’s experience, sponsored by SUDENE - Superintendência de Desenvolvimento do Nordeste and the Banco do Nordeste, with the official support of EMBRATUR and Secretary of Sports and Tourism of the State of São Paulo. The event attracted 370 participants and over 40 speakers, divided into six Round Tables, five workshops and over 20 panels.

The government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso turned tourism into one of its goals, while the opinion’s makers began to think of this area as a business generator of economic and social development. This seminar was, in 1998, the only Brazilian opportunity to understand this business and develop ways to benefit from it. The presidential’s candidate, Ciro Gomes, attended the event.
